Download # Shigeto – What We Held On To EP [Ghostly International]

25 07 2010

“Artists take on pseudonyms for a multitude of reasons, but in Zach Saginaw’s case, those reasons run deeper than most. Zach records under the name Shigeto. It’s his middle name; it’s also his grandfather’s name, a tribute to the Japanese branch of Zach’s family tree. Shigeto also means “to grow bigger”—appropriate, given Zach’s premature birth-weight of less than a pound. Today, Shigeto stands for Zach’s vividly beautiful electronic music. Beat-driven but given to richly textured sound design, rhythmically fractured but melodically sumptuous, Shigeto’s music is a bridge between the past and present, bringing the artist face to face with a creative legacy that spans decades.”

Here’s a very great present from Ghostly Fam’ & the man called Shigeto. After his 1st release for them, and just before he will drop his next full length he gives us this free 5 Track master-piece, superb inspiration, completely brilliant production, progressive & Multi homemade record that he sampled, cut, chop & cook…Amazing Recipe
I don’t know why but for now im still listening to it, and i will write about it later. Simply all songs are unique. For now a lil preference for the song After she smokes, cause at the first listen i heard those noises you make when u take dishes away from the table: knifes & forkes hurtings plates…glasses sliding noises…all of this accumulation, resets & organised to create a Break Ya Neck song. Beginning remind me Flying Lotus’s Glendale Galleria (published on Tectonic) & i cant be unsensitive to French voices as well.
Go for the piano jazz touches on Spring Textures indeed too. Be sure to check all his links on the artist page (Twitter, Myspace & F***cock)

Yes a Sunday Record, for smart minds
