WATCH & SUPPORT # Unlike U: Trainwriting in Berlin

26 12 2011

The Berlin transport company (BVG) has sued us in order to refrain us from distributing the movie regarding the places
the action documented in UNLIKE U took place in. To understand all of this you’ve got to see the movie yourself.

This is probably the main reason you have to see this documentary, even if you’re not a writer. And mostly, cause
we are defender of the Freedom of Speech, and the liberty of the press. Its “i think” a very wrong tactical choice
that the BVG just took, im a bit confused about them cause videos about graffiti on trains are all over the web…
and for once, there’s this DOCUMENTARY (which is very different from a Graffiti Video) showing a real interest
into writing culture in Berlin, and doing an excellent work of documentation, interviews & questionning the motivations
of writers, and what is it to keep on painting trains & subways in 2011, at a time when BVG has almost all the security
procedures & equipments into their hands to catch and find writers.
Why writing on trains? Why keep on writing and taking so much risks for drawing your name or characters?
When did it start? How the movement evolved since the last 25-30 years?
And, what the Berlin scene so special in the world to any writer?
All those questions, and more are decrypted in this excellent documentary.

Before you start watching, put your ass in the sofa and open the weed box
i just wanted to remind you that the directors are being sued by the Berlin transit authorities
you can read more about it in details over HERE & show some love over their Facebook HERE

For now, seat down, relax, start to shake some cans
paint will be ready by the time you finish to watch this

LISTEN # More Wax – A 100% Mo’Wax Radio by Dale Cooper

19 12 2011

DJ, Promoter, Web Designer & friend Dale Cooper, is a unique and major head
for the establishment of Jungle & DnB culture in France. Owner & creator of the site/forum lavibe.org,
a website that became very quickly the biggest web sources for DnB parties, releases & an ocean of topics
some really interesting, some really funny & completely useless. Without this guy, i have serious doubts
that the scene in France will be what it was in the 2000′s.
Except for being the investigator of this legendary website, Dale Cooper is (also) a great DJ, that played alongside N-Type, Headhunter, Noisia, Camo & so much more. LaVibe is still a radio show (since 10 years now)
Listen Here at Mixcloud

To go back to the topic, Dale is (also again) one of the biggest Mo’Wax fan i’ve ever met
He never miss a record, or a Futura2000 exhibition in Paris…..
So it sounds crazy, but Dale created a 100% Mo’Wax webradio
Yes: 24/7 Mo’Wax Records all day, all week, all year
Let’s see what Dale has to say about this project

My name is Ben, I’m also known as Dale Cooper.

I am an hardcore Mo’ Wax collector since 1996 and I’ve setup this web radio as a tribute to the label that changed my life.

My aim is to put up the full Mo’ Wax back catalog played in random order, 24/7. I still need to rip a few vinyls, and I’m also still missing some in my collection, so it may take some time… There are currently 1014 tracks ready to play.

I’ve used MPD for playing, encoding and streaming + a bit of bash, php and javascript to create this page. The push action is provided by Pubnub. There are some improvements to the design planned in the near future.

The stream is encoded in mp3 at 320 kbps with Lame.

At the moment – unfortunately – Flash player is used to play the mp3 stream, because the HTML5 player can’t play the songs continuously. As soon as I fix that issue I’ll get rid of the Flash player.

Most of the covers have been scanned or shot by myself, the rest comes from Discogs or from random websites.

The background pictures are reworked details from “Untitled” (1987) by Futura 2000, shot by myself in Paris.

Thanks to : MoG from the hq rip of MWR138.

DOWNLOAD # The Do-Over Manila EP + Maadsteppa Mix by Red Astrid

14 12 2011

- Yeah you already know this is gonna be massive -
So basically, it’s The Do-Over crew (parties & releases from CA) split project with Red-I (B-Side / Dubplate from Manila)
Let’s read first about the project itself

Seven years ago, who would have ever thought that our little backyard boogie would one day be hosted on the other side of the world?  It’s sometimes hard to live in the moment and truly appreciate how blessed we are to be doing what we love,  but a week long excursion in The Philippines this past July was just what the doctor ordered.  Part of the overall beauty of Do-Over is being able to experience the local culture of each market and fully enjoy the sights, the sounds, the food & the people.  Well, no trip to The PI is complete without a fellow Beat Junkie on your side (and an evening of midget boxing) so it was an honor to bring along our friend, Rhettmatic for his first ever DJ gig in The Motherland alongside Bugz In The Attic’s Daz-I-Kue.  Before The Do-Over ManiLA, we escaped the hustle and bustle of the city and ventured through the country side and made our way to the South China Sea.  It was here, in the secluded Punta Fuego seaside community where the magic first started.  From sun up to sun down, Rhett, Daz & local beatmaker Red-I, drew inspiration from one another and shared their influences to collaborate together as well as create their own tracks over the course of the entire trip. The result was an abundance of tropical heat.

As for the actual party, that was a story of it’s own.  Let’s just say Filipino Time is no joke and we ended the party at 5am after countless tea pots of sangria, bottles of Red Horse (in search of the lucky bottle) and bbq pork on a stick.  All in all, The Do-Over ManilLA was an experience like no other.  From the capacity turnout to the overall respect and hospitality of the people, we were truly honored and blessed to have brought our little backyard boogie to the fine people of The Philippines.  As a token of our appreciation, we would like to share the music that was created on this journey.  Very special thanks to The B-Side Crew (Anna, Erick & PJ), Red-I Sound & adidas Originals.

Thats for History, im pretty much happy that this release is coming out
cause its the result of a very very serious dedicated work to the one and only MUSIC
Im sure most of you have seen the Do-Over around the Internet, especially after they had this World Tour
(Again…thank you Paris shitty community for the lack of interest)
But maybe u never heard about Red-I or BSide or Dubplate so i suggest you to check them out
HERE
Without them, i dont think Kode9, Addison Groove, FreeTheRobots, Tokimonsta, RSD, Pinch, Gold Panda, Shortkut, D-Styles, Kab (MHD), Dizz1, Quantic & so on & so on….will ever hit Manila and have this kind of welcome
So basically anyone in South East Asia who had a chance to break his neck over one of those name, should show some love….It brings a bit of sadness in my heart as i remember this afternoon in that park in PAris with my dear friend P, we were talking about bringin FlyLo in Bkk & Manila like 3 years ago…..Miss you Bro’

So Massive BIG UP to Manila for doing things right propa since a while now, wish this keep on for ever!!!
If you want a preview of what a B-Side / Dubplate / Irie Sunday Session can be in Manila,
Keep on reading this post and trust Astrid to bring you the RRRRRRRRRrrriiiiiight Sound
You EXACTLY know where to head out if u in town, and trust me its good to know where to go
when you in Manila ahahaha Dont get lost ya heard

For now
